Songs Hidden In Eggs

Welcome to Songs Hidden In Eggs

Look at six eggs

in a mockingbird’s nest.

Listen to six mockingbirds

Flinging follies of O-be-joyful

Over the marshes and uplands.

Look at songs

Hidden in eggs.

        by Carl Sandburg

Marnie Parrish-Siggelkow began drawing and painting as a little girl. She was encouraged and inspired by artist Electa Reynolds from Five Islands, Maine. As a child, creativity filled her home. Her father was a musician, her mother was a freelance writer and her sister was a poet.

Marnie married Roger and they began the busy life of raising a family of three children. In addition, Marnie and Roger performed together for children for many years as the well-loved duo—The Flyers. Together they have also served on the pastoral staff of four different churches including a house church.

Marnie studied art at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota and later received a B.A. in Organizational Studies. She received her training and certification in Spiritual Direction from Christos Center for Spiritual Formation in St. Paul.

At a new stage in her life, her soon to be empty nest really isn’t empty after all. There are eggs yet to be hatched and songs to be sung. She is beginning to sing her songs hidden in eggs – painting, drawing and spiritual direction.
